We were told by our guide that it only snows in Nanchang once a year and guess what, it has snowed here for the passed 2 days and the roads are icy in some spots and there is a thin layer of snow on the city. This is a city that is not prepared for any snow. This means that Lucy will be brought directly to our hotel room by approx. 4 pm today. There may be delays because of the road conditions. Normally it would take a 2 hour drive from Yingtan and then once in Nanchang another hour to get to our hotel. The meeting today would normally occur at the Provincial Adoption Center but they want to avoid that extra step today. I am totally ok with this.
Our guide has told us that Lucy is off formula so that is a good thing. We can avoid buying and carrying around bottles and formula.
It is 5:30 am and the other two are still sleeping. Our flight here was uneventful besides the fact that we were all really tired. After checking in at the airport, we had 3 hours to waste. We got picked up from the hotel way to early. Thanks goodness for a small play area in the airport where Kyla managed to excerpt some much pent up energy. There was a family there with a one year old boy. He was so cute and his mother was so lovely having great conversations with Kyla in Mandarin and Kyla would reply in full discussion in English. Her son was wearing one off those toddler pants with the slit in the pants and he wore a diaper. At one point the mom took the diaper off, squatted her son where she made a noise, then on command her son peed on the diaper on the floor. OK I was intrigued, then the little boy ran around the play area with no diaper and Kyla kept asking "why does he not have a nappy?". I explained that is how they do it in China. Kyla was wondering why the little boy could climb all over the play area free a s a bird. It was cute. Since Kyla is at the stage where you see someone's butt or say the word butt and it is funny!
I am less than 10 hours away from meeting Lucy. There is no way I can sleep so I sit in the bathroom trying to let the other two sleep.
